More information is given on physical and paper trading as well as detailed examples of the various trading techniques including geographical and time arbitrage, spreads and use of market structure. The range of forward, futures, swaps and options price risk management tools and the principles of hedging are explained.

Covers all aspects of the processes and commercial/operational issues involved in the implementation of the sale and purchase of crude oil and petroleum products.

• Stages in a typical cargo trade, from negotiation through implementation to final invoicing;
• Oil sales and purchase contracts – structure and terms;
• Oil sales and purchase contracts – price clauses, operational clauses, other clauses, contract risks and exposures;
• Shipping: tankers, chartering, freight calculation, operations, laytime & demurrage;
• Product quality, blending, quantity & quality measurement;
• Cargo insurance, claims, letters of credit;
• Pipelines and pipeline operations
• Oil storage – types of storage and storage terminal, storage contracts, storage operations.
