Certificate in ESG Investing

The CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing is already becoming the definitive qualification on this essential topic. Launched by the CFA UK in 2019, the certificate has global outlook and global appeal, with investment practitioners around the world already benefitting from the knowledge gained.

Course Information

The Quartic programme for the ESG Certificate are designed to make learning enjoyable and the content intuitive. Environmental, social and governance issues cover an enormous spectrum of ideas. There are nine sections to the ESG Certificate syllabus and (dare we say) a very large number of facts and figures, concepts, government and private initiatives, regulations and acronyms to get your head around.

A combination of the Quartic Workbook, pre-recorded videos and live workshops should help you to understand the key issues facing companies, how analysts and investors can assess these and integrate them into portfolios.

Whether you are an analyst, advisor or portfolio manager or merely want to understand today’s world, Quartic’s unique style will help you to appreciate that it is not all doom and gloom out there. Our goal is to inspire you. You want to go out and make the world a better place. If we can help you along that journey, then we will have succeeded.

All prices are net, VAT will be added where applies.

The CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing* explores environmental, social and governance issues in the context of investment decision-making. What are the key issues? How do we identify them? And how do we then incorporate them into our investing? All shall be revealed…

This exam is designed for investment practitioners of all levels – you may be looking to start a career in finance or you may already be running a global multi-asset fund. You may also be advising on or distributing financial products, or working in risk management: the application of this qualification is broad indeed.

Quartic provides ESG candidates with an intuitive and informative approach: a detailed workbook covering all topics, accompanied by a library of inspirational videos and an extensive question bank with mock exam. There are scheduled live sessions as well, designed to be accessible for all time zones.

*The Certificate in ESG Investing is developed, administered, and awarded by CFA Society of the United Kingdom (CFA UK) and successful candidates will receive the CFA UK Level 4 Certificate in ESG Investing.

Studying for the ESG Certificate should take between 100 and 150 hours. We recommend spending at least an hour a day on this so that you can sit the exam within around four months of starting. Although you will have a year from registration in which to do the exam, a more intense timetable will make the studying more efficient.

Materials

For the ESG Live programme, you will receive from Quartic:
• An e-book containing slides that cover the whole syllabus (a printed workbook is available for a small supplemental fee to cover printing and shipping).
• A schedule of 8 one-hour live workshop sessions, with multiple workshop presentations during the day to accommodate all time zones.
• A video library with 15 to 20 hours of detailed explanations of the syllabus.
• An extensive question bank containing more than 640 exam-style questions, including two full-length mock exams.
• Quartic tutor support from registration until your exam day.
• Finance Essentials: an additional section providing background knowledge on asset valuation, portfolio theory and financial analysis.

For the ESG Online you will receive the same content except for live workshops.

An online version of the Official Training Manual will be part of the cost of registration with CFA UK. You may, in addition, purchase a hardcopy manual.

Please note that the Quartic fees do not include your exam registration.

When you pass the exam you will receive the CFA UK Level 4 Certificate in ESG Investing.

If you have also passed the level 4 IMC exam then you will be awarded the CFA UK Level 4 Diploma in Investment Management (ESG).

Finance Essentials

We have included an additional section at the back of our workbook to provide background knowledge on areas of finance within ESG. These include quantitative methods, accounting, asset classes and portfolio theory, with video explanation of each concept. Although not directly examinable, the Finance Essentials section provides invaluable background to ESG candidates who would like to improve their knowledge.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites to studying the ESG Certificate. A knowledge of the investment process is useful but not essential. You will also see accounting and mathematical terminology, but proficiency in these areas is not required. Accounting concepts will be fully explained when you meet them, and the exam contains no calculations. Calculators are not permitted (or needed) in the exam itself.
